- What does ScopeCheck actually do?
- You upload the contractor estimates you've collected, and we give you a plain-English audit of what each one includes, what's missing versus industry standard, and how the prices compare — plus the exact questions to ask before you sign.
- Do you grade the contractor?
- No. We grade the estimate as a document, not the person or business. Our job is to make sure you understand exactly what you're paying for — not to say any contractor is good or bad.
- How much does it cost?
- A full roofing audit is $99, one-time. We also offer a Storm / Insurance review ($199) and a Change Order review ($49). No subscriptions, and we don't take a commission from anyone.
- How long does it take?
- Most reports are ready in about a minute after you upload your estimates. In rare cases where a human review is triggered, it may take up to 24 hours — you'll get an email when your report is ready.
- What if I only have one estimate?
- You can still get value from a single estimate. Our Gut Check tier reviews one estimate on its own — flagging missing scope items, vague materials, and paperwork gaps — so you know exactly what questions to ask before collecting more bids.
- Do you check the contractor's license?
- Yes. Every report includes a factual check against Florida's public state license records — license status, type, and how long they've been licensed — with a link to verify it yourself.
- Is my information secure?
- Yes. Your account is protected by Clerk. Uploaded estimate files are stored privately in Vercel Blob and audit records are stored in Neon Postgres. Only your authenticated account can access them. We never share your documents or property information with contractors, insurers, or third parties.
- What is your refund policy?
- If your report doesn't help you make a more confident decision, contact us within 30 days and we'll refund you, no questions asked.
- Do you work with or recommend contractors?
- No. ScopeCheck only serves homeowners. We accept no referral fees, commissions, or payments from contractors of any kind. Our independence from the contractor relationship is the whole point — it's what makes the audit honest.
- Is this legal or insurance advice?
- No. ScopeCheck is an educational tool. It is not a warranty, guarantee, or professional legal or insurance opinion, and we never adjust or negotiate insurance claims. Always verify a contractor's license and insurance independently before signing.
- What if my estimates are just photos?
- That's fine — clear photos of the estimates work just as well as PDFs.
