Can a free checker tell me if an HVAC quote is overpriced?
Not from the total alone. Equipment, capacity, ducts, electrical work, permits, commissioning, warranties, rebates, and local conditions can change the price. This checker shows whether the written scope is complete enough for a useful comparison.
Should every replacement quote include a Manual J calculation?
Ask each bidder to explain the heating and cooling loads used and how the proposed equipment was selected. The appropriate documentation and local code requirements can vary, but square footage or the old unit's tonnage alone does not explain the home's current loads.
What should I compare besides the HVAC equipment brand?
Compare exact models, matched-system ratings, sizing basis, ducts and airflow, line-set and electrical scope, permits, commissioning, controls, warranties, exclusions, cash price, financing, rebates, and change-order terms.
