Who we are

ScopeCheck ("we," "us") provides an educational tool that audits contractor estimates for homeowners. You can reach us at scopecheck@scopecheckhq.com or Tampa, Florida, USA.

What we collect

Account information you provide when you sign up (name and email), handled by our authentication provider.

The documents and details you upload for an audit — including contractor estimates, the property address you enter, and any contractor names or notes.

Payment information when you purchase a report. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card number.

Basic technical data (such as log and device information) needed to operate and secure the service.

Privacy-minimal service analytics, including a random browser-session identifier, the first ScopeCheck path opened, and coarse campaign or referral labels. We do not intentionally collect full referring URLs, search terms, emails, addresses, or document data in this funnel data.

If you choose to share them, the numbers from your estimates, as described below.

If you rate a finding in your report as right or not right, that rating and the finding it refers to.

How we use it

To generate your audit report, verify contractor license information against public records, deliver your results, process payment, provide support, and keep the service secure.

To check your estimates against the rules that apply where the home is. We work out the state (and, where our rules need it, the county) from the address or ZIP code you enter or, if you leave it blank, from the job address printed on your estimate.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your uploaded estimates with the contractors involved or with any third party for their own marketing.

Service providers we rely on

We use trusted vendors to run ScopeCheck: Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting and file storage), Neon (database), Anthropic (the AI that analyzes your estimates), Resend (email delivery), and Google (address suggestions while you type in the address field). Your data is processed by these providers only to provide the service, under their own security and privacy commitments.

Optional: sharing your estimate numbers

When you start an audit you can tick a box, which is off unless you choose it, to let us keep the numbers from your estimates to build local price comparisons. We keep the trade, the state and county, the prices, the line items and materials, whether a permit and warranty were mentioned, and the score and detail rating the report gave each estimate.

Before we keep them, we remove names, street addresses, ZIP codes, email addresses and phone numbers, including the contractors' names, as far as we can detect them. We keep the audit they came from linked internally only so we can delete them if you ask.

We use these numbers only in aggregate, for example to tell a future report where an estimate falls among others for the same trade and state, and only once we have enough of them. We never sell them or show one person's estimate to anyone else. If you do not tick the box, nothing from your estimates is kept for this purpose.

Report feedback

Your report lets you mark each finding as right or not right. We use those ratings to review and improve how ScopeCheck checks estimates. A person reviews them; they do not change anyone's report automatically.

How long we keep it

We keep your audits and uploaded documents so you can access them in your account. You can ask us to delete your account and associated documents at any time by emailing us, and we will also delete any estimate numbers and ratings kept from your audits.

First-touch campaign labels are stored in your browser only for the current session. When a funnel event is recorded, those coarse labels may be retained server-side only as reasonably needed to understand service performance, diagnose failures, and protect the service.

Security

Uploaded documents are stored privately and access is restricted to your account. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your choices

You can access, correct, or delete your information by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; email us to exercise them.

Children

ScopeCheck is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the date below.
